Muse, a mental health therapist who is 41 years old, revealed that she removed her son’s and daughter’s mobile phones from their possession every night before they went to bed. Her son was 15 years old, and her daughter was 17 years old. “Not only do I own their phones, but I also pay for them. During an interview with The New York Post, Muse stated that she is able to go through them whenever she finds it necessary. She defended her activities by saying, “People might think [it] is a sign of disrespect or an invasion of their privacy, but this is how I manage my ship.” This was in response to the possibility that her actions might be met with criticism for breaching the privacy of her teenagers.
It is said that the practice started when her children were approximately 11 years old, and it eventually evolved into doing occasional checks on them far into their teenage years. In her defence, Muse asserts that her reasons are based on the need to safeguard her children from the potential risks posed by online predators and scammers, as well as to protect them from engaging in undesirable activities while using the internet.

One of the incidents had her son, Cohen, sharing images of himself without a shirt on the internet. She quickly responded to the situation by deleting the videos and other content. “If I do find something that’s an issue, we talk about it and turn it into a teachable moment,” she stated further. “I’m not perfect, I don’t expect my children to be perfect, but it’s important to keep an eye on things.”
